Titan’s 300-tonne linear hydraulic pullers otherwise known as “Titan Pullers” is shown above. The pullers have been used in a variety of manners including dragging vessels off the beach or onto barges, parbuckling vessels, rolling vessels onto barges or onto breakwaters or to vertically lift sunken vessels. Several examples of relevant “Titan Puller” jobs are provided on the bottom of this page to illustrate the versatility and capacity of these machines and Titan’s ability to successfully apply skill and innovation to accomplish challenging wreck removal jobs.

Titan Pullers are 300 metric ton capacity linear hydraulic pulling machines. Two hydraulic rams move a 4” thick steel door that is mounted on a sliding frame. The door pulls 3” (76mm) anchor chain that is attached to the object that is being pulled. Another 4” thick steel door fixed to the frame of the machine holds the chain while the hydraulic rams retract for the next +/-6.5 feet (2 metre) stroke. The rams are powered by hydraulic power packs run through a control valve. The machines can be used individually or as part of a multi-puller spread.

Titan pullers have been used to:

  1. Pull stranded vessels off the beach.
  2. Roll capsized vessels into the upright position in preparation for refloating.
  3. Chain cut a shipwreck into sections for extraction.
  4. Roll 2500+ ton sections of a shipwreck out of the water and up onto the breakwater for scrapping.
  5. Drag sections of a shipwreck up onto the beach for scrapping.
  6. Slide 4000+ ton sections of a submerged wreck onto a submerged barge which was then deballasted to lift the section out of the water.
  7. Vertically lift 3500+ ton sections of a submerged wreck off the seafloor in water depths exceeding 100 feet.
  8. Extract 300 foot sections of a jack up leg penetrated 70 feet into the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico in 250 feet of water.
  9. Used as a “mooring winch” for a barge in open ocean.

The following photographs show the 2004 wreck removal of the M/V DELTA CONVEYOR in the Mississippi River. This lift of 3000+ tonnes illustrates Titan’s ability to lift large sections of a casualty between two barges with Titan Pullers.
